There have been no changes in polling places in Nelson County, Elaine Filiatreau, Nelson County Clerk, told the Gazette on Friday. If voters have moved or changed their address since the last time they voted, they should contact the clerk’s office to determine where they should vote.

REPUBLICAN PRIMARY. Republicans will only have two countywide races they can cast votes in: The Republican primary for Nelson County Sheriff, and the non-partisan judicial ballot for the open Kentucky Supreme Court seat.

Votes cast in one of the Republican primary races on the ballot will not be counted. Votes cast for 5th District magistrate candidates Trey Bradley or David M. Williams II will not be counted because Williams withdrew from the race, eliminating the need for a primary election in that race.

However, the two men’s names are still on the ballot. Signs will be posted at each 5th District precinct advising them that votes cast in that race will not count.

DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY. Democrats have six countywide races and two magistraterial district races to cast votes in, as well as the non-partisan Supreme Court race.

The races include: 2nd District U.S. Representative; 50th District state representative; judge executive; county clerk; sheriff; jailer; District 2 magistrate and District 3 magistrate.

Polling places will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. When you go to cast your vote, be sure to have a photo ID or other form of identification.
