Bardstown Middle SBDM council names Taylor as schools next principal

Monday, May 21, 2018 –– The Bardstown Middle School SBDM council select Melissa Taylor as the schools next principal. The council made the decision at its meeting last Thursday.

Taylor has beens serving as assistant principal at the middle school since July 2010.

Taylor began her teaching career in 1994 as an English and Social Studies teacher in the Nelson County School system. She came to Bardstown City Schools in 2001 as a 6th-grade language arts teacher at Bardstown Middle School, a position she held until becoming assistant principal in 2010.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be named principal of Bardstown Middle School,” Taylor said. “BMS is an outstanding school with a strong tradition of excellence serving great students, families, and a great community. I feel blessed to have been given this opportunity to work hand-in-hand with a dedicated faculty and staff to sustain a school environment that empowers, encourages, and equips all students to become the next generation of leaders.”

Taylor obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, her Master’s in Education from Western Kentucky University and her Rank I in Professional Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University.
