Monday, May 21, 2018 — Nelson County High School was under a “soft” lockdown for about 30 minutes Monday afternoon prompted by a social media message.

According to a district press release, there was no direct threat on the school, but the nature of the message prompted the lockdown just before 3 p.m.

The Bardstown Police Department and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school.

Nelson County Dispatch advised officers of a vehicle that was apparently en route to the school and contained individuals believed to be connected to the threat. Deputies located the vehicle in the side bus lot and police detained three individuals.

“Student safety is our number one priority. We will continue to monitor the situation and update as needed,” NCHS Principal Tanya Jury said.

“Mrs. Jury and her team worked seamlessly with local law enforcement to ensure that our students were safe,” Superintendent Wes Bradley added.

The investigation is continuing.
