Obituary: Francis J. Dixon Jr., 86, Nazareth

Francis J. Dixon Jr., 86, of Nazareth, died Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Pittsburgh. He was an Army veteran from 1955 to 1958 and received an honorable discharge. He was a devout Catholic who was devoted to his faith, beloved family, and many friends. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1954 from St. Vincent College, Penn., a law degree in 1961 from Fordham University, N.Y., and an advanced law degree in 1969 from New York University. He practiced law in New York City, specializing in the representation of insurance companies. After retiring, He enjoyed helping others through many volunteer activities and living in the beautiful retirement community of Nazareth Village.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Dixon, who died eight years ago.

He is survived by five sons, Francis Dixon III, Mike Dixon (Yvette), Stephen Dixon (Leisha), Chris Dixon (Ann) and Nathan Dixon (Trish); one daughter, Anne Van Dyke; one sister, Kathleen Walters; one brother, William B. Dixon (Kay); eight grandchildren, Samantha Dixon, Bianca Dixon, Stephen Dixon, Chanel Van Dyke, Luke Van Dyke, Troy Dixon, Jack Dixon and Danny Dixon; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at St. Andrews Church, 120 Washington Ave., Westwood, N.J. with a meal following the funeral at 1 p.m. at the Pavilion, Alpine Boat Basin, Alpine, N.J. He will be remembered in liturgy Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Nazareth.
