Escaped cow still at-large; last seen in the Ashberry Drive area

Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 8:30 a.m. — A large cow that escaped Monday afternoon from the Central Kentucky Animal Clinic remained at large early Tuesday according to Bardstown Police. It was last seen in the woods off Ashberry Avenue, and was believed to be in the wooded area between Ashberry and Camptown Road.

The cow left the clinic, located at 131 West John Rowan about 2:45 Monday afternoon. The animal traveled east on KY 245, crossed North Third Street and continued east until officers were able to corral it off the roadway near the Newcomb Oil driveway.  Officers were joined in the search by staff members from the animal clinic.

About an hour after officers discontinued the search, they were called back to the Camptown Road area after the animal was spotted in the area. While the animal is harmless, police say it could wander back to KY 245 and pose a traffic hazard.
