Obituary: Leon Coleman Collins, 97, Bloomfield

Leon Coleman Collins, 97, of Bloomfield, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at his home. He was born Dec. 4, 1920, in Nelson County to the late John William and Lillian Humphrey Collins. He was a farmer who loved working on his farm. He was a member of Cox’s Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Collins; one son, David Burr Collins; and one grandson, Coleman Collins; one sisters, Burr Snyder; and one brother, Theodore Collins.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne (Mary) Collins of Bardstown and Danny (Georgeanne) Collins of Bloomfield; one sister, Juanita (John) Parrott of Bardstown; four grandchildren, Lynn (Chuck) Young of Union, David Collins of Cox’s Creek, Adam Collins of Fort Campbell, and Todd (Sheilia) Collins of Bardstown; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.

Cremation was chosen by the family and a private inurnment will be at Bardstown Cemetery at a later date.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, in charge of arrangements.
