Obituary: James Carroll Hardin, 79, Chaplin

James Carroll Hardin, 79, of Chaplin, died at 8:06 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2018, at his home after an illness. He was a native of Washington County, born Nov. 3, 1938, to the late Herbert and Annie Helen Wall Hardin. He was a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer.

Preceding him in death was his daughter, Lee Ann Hardin, on January 24, 2018; and one brother, Leon Hardin on Nov. 1, 2009.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Prewitt Hardin; one son, Anthony Hardin (Shannon) of Chaplin; two grandsons, Blake Hardin and Ben Hardin; two brothers, Paul Hardin (Shirley) of Glasgow and Bernice Hardin of Bloomfield.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Thompson, pastor of the Chaplin Baptist Church, officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery at Chaplin.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Paul Holt and Eugene Morris. Casket bearers will be Troy Prewitt, Kenny Prewitt, Danny Prewitt, Ronnie Hardin, Steve Tate and Ken Powell.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
