Obituary: Arlie Chaney, 92, Hodgenville
Arlie Chaney, 92, of Hodgenville, died Sunday, July 1, 2018, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born June 25, 1926, in Ano to the late Simeon and Ida Speaks Chaney. He was a member of Steadfast Baptist Church. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a part of the Honor Guard on the burial service for General George Patton. He was a tank driver and gunner for the U.S. Army. After his service, he became a teacher for the Floyd County, Ind., school system with 39 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simeon and Ida Speaks Chaney; and one sister, Thelma Wombles.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ilma Hutcherson Chaney of Hodgenville; one sister, Yvonne (Buddy) Lynch of Indianapolis; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, with the Rev. Rodney Troutman officiating. Burial is in the Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018, and 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville.
The William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd, Hodgenville, is in charge of arrangements.
