Obituary: Ernie Thompson, 68, Taylorsville

Ernie Thompson, 68, of Taylorsville, died on Wednesday, July 4,, 2018, at his residence. He was a native of Spencer County, the son of the late Jeff W. and Elizabeth Lewis Thompson. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was self-employed in the construction business as a framer who framed many of the houses and buildings in Spencer County. Fishing was among his favorite pastimes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason Scott Thompson.

His survivors include his wife, Roxann Thompson of Taylorsville; three daughters, Kimberly Richardson (Terry), and Tammy Berry (Robbie), both of Taylorsville, and Rebecca Chesser of Bloomfield; one sister, Cathy John of Louisville; three brothers, Gary Thompson of Louisville, and Michael Thompson and Jimmy Thompson, both of Chaplin; 13 grandchildren, Sarah Wright (Jason), Hannah Vera (Alejandro), Rachael Richardson, Tommy McGehee (Amanda), Brian Berry (Abby), Zachary Berry, Destiney White, Whitney Chesser, Lexie Chesser, J. D. Chesser, Ashlyn Chesser, Brooke Thompson, and Jacob Thompson; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tylen McGehee, Isaac McGehee, Lillian Wright, Corvin Wright, Jandy Wright, Damion Richardson, Preston Vera, Mason Vera, Carson Richardson, Colton Chesser and Addie Chesser.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, with the Rev. Mavis Bennett and the Rev. Chad Goodlett officiating. Burial is in the Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Taylorsville.
