Obituary: Gerald Lynn Gillis Sr., 77, Bloomfield
Gerald Lynn Gillis Sr., 77, of Bloomfield, died Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 8, 1940, in Anderson County to the late Cecil and Irene Wells Gillis. He was the owner of Gerald Gillis CPA, a former professor at Watterson College, Mayor of Bloomfield from 1987-1993, a member of the Bloomfield City Council from 2001-2004, and was a member of Bloomfield Christian Church Disciples of Christ where he was a past chairman of the board. He loved to fish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Gillis and Elaine Gillis.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gail Wright Gillis; one daughter, Leslie (Carl) Booth of Seffner, Fla.; one son, Gerald Lynn (Diane) Gillis Jr. of West Melbourne, Fla.; one sister, Linda Whitworth of Shelbyville; and four grandchildren, Samantha Booth, Casey Booth, Celine Gillis and Nathan Gillis.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Bloomfield Christian Church Disciples of Christ with Bro. Bobby Olliges and Bro. Tom Pierce officiating. Burial is in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contribution to the Bloomfield Christian Church Memorial Fund.
The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
