Obituary: Gary Charles Riddle, 67

Gary Charles Riddle, 67, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018. He was born in Augusta, Mich., Aug. 21, 1950, to the late Charles and Elvia Riddle. He moved to San Francisco in 1962 and attended Galesburg-Augusta Elementary School in Michigan and George Washington High School in San Francisco. He attended San Francisco State University as well as the San Francisco Art Institute. At the age of 17, he began to work at Standard Oil gas station pumping gas and servicing cars. He later began driving truck for Chevron and retired from there 35 years later.

He loved riding his Harley, camping, fishing, listening to music, recusing dogs, traveling, and going to the gym. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, playing musical instruments and creating art whether it be through painting, clay, candles or jewelry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Cheeseman.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Rachael (Riddle) Gelhar; grandson, Mitchell Gelhar; one sister, Ruth Riddle; one brother, Barry Riddle; the mother of his daughter, Sue Ellen (Blum) Riddle; and other loves in his life, Siobhan Martinez, Madlen (Daniel) Riddle, daughters by marriage, Michelle Bough (Michael) and stepgrandchildren Mason Riddle, Jennifer Riddle and Lauren (Fletcher) Riddle.

A service to celebrate his life is 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Dyer Hill Baptist Church, 1243 US Highway 60 E, Smithland, Ky.

On Monday, July 23, 2018, at 2:15 p.m., friends are invited to join family locally for open prayer at the Abbey of Gethsemani, 3642 Monks Road. This is a gathering of friends in a place where Gary found much peace and love.

Dignity Memorial of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
