Obituary: William Ray ‘Bill’ Stratton Sr., 81, Balltown

WILLIAM RAY “BILL” STRATTON SR.

William Ray “Bill” Stratton Sr., 81, of Balltown, died peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday, July 14, 2018, in Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. He was born June 24, 1937, in Louisville to the late Leonard and Imelda Goben Stratton. He was a retired employee of Armour Packing Co., and was a member of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Louise Stratton; two brothers, Jimmy Bauer and Tommy Stratton; and two grandchildren.

He is survived by three daughters, Phyllis (Bill) Shoemaker of Louisville, Diane (Ira) Katz of Dunedin, Fla., and Karen (Michael) Whittaker of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Ray (Beth) Stratton and Leo (Jill) Stratton, both of Bardstown; one sister, Sue (Clifford) Greer of New Haven; his fiancé, Roberta “Bobbi” Lee of Bardstown, as well as her four children and her 14 grandchildren; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. His grandson, Ryan Brown will officiate. Burial is in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to Hosparus HICC Unit, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr. Louisville, KY 40205.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
