Obituary: Charles E. Taylor, 87, Holy Cross

Charles E. Taylor, 87, of Holy Cross, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Nelson County. He was a retired farmer and former employee of Barton Brands LTD with 40 years of service. He was a generous blood donor giving over 13 gallons during his lifetime. He was a member of Holy Cross Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Anna Frances Thompson Taylor; seven brothers, James Taylor, Donnie Taylor, Kenny Taylor, Philip Taylor, Leon Taylor, Russell Taylor and Joseph Taylor; and one grandchild, Eric Scott Taylor.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wilhelmenia Lyvers Taylor; four daughters, Phyllis Taylor of Houston, Dolores Anderson (Dante) of Bardstown, Mary Patricia Jones (Stewart) of Loretto and Carol Robertson (Drew) of Richmond; six sons, Charles William Taylor (Doris) of Henryville, Ind., Dale Taylor (Sherry) of Bowling Green, Michael Taylor (Linda) of Shepherdsville, Louis Taylor (Sandra) of New Hope, Steven Taylor (Tracy) of Bardstown and Allen Taylor of Holy Cross; four sisters, Ida Lou Johnson (James), Mary Ann Taylor and Patti Briggs, all of Bardstown, and Joan Taylor, of Louisville; three brothers, Paul Taylor of Glen Burnie, MD, and David Taylor (Gail) and Marty Taylor, all of Bardstown; 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Bryan Lamberson officiating.

Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant. The rosary will be offered at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 510 E. Chestnut St., Louisville, KY 40202.

His sons will serve as pallbearers.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
