Tuesday, July 24, 2018 — The Kentucky Bourbon Festival has moved to new location that give it the ability and space to host more events for tourists, distilleries and the community year-round.
The festival offices are now part of the third floor penthouse at historic Spalding Hall, 114 North Fifth St.
According to a press release, the KBF’s move took place last December.
“Our new location offers better access to the community and more opportunities for distilleries to engage in a space where they haven’t been able to do before,” Jill Hawkins, the festival’s executive director said. “We now have the ability to provide additional educational programming and events that encourage guests to enjoy the Bourbon Capital of the World experience.”
The third-floor of Spalding Hall provides substantial space and plenty of natural lighting, and makes the suite an idyllic environment for honoring Bourbon heritage. While visiting, guests can also tour the Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History and Bardstown Historical Museum, both located downstairs.
Its been a busy week for the KBF already! Today they sponsored the Bourbon Capital Mixed Drink Challenge, which offers distilleries, restaurants and bars the opportunity to showcase their mixology skills and compete to have their drink named the Official Cocktail of the 2018 Festival.
On Thursday, July 26, class is in session for the Stave & Thief Certified Bourbon Steward training. Participants will be led through an in-depth program to expand knowledge and increase confidence about all things Bourbon. Tickets are $55/person and include a Certified Bourbon Steward Handbook and the opportunity to earn a Stave & Thief Certified Bourbon Steward lapel pin.
