Two additional candidates file to keep seats on the Bardstown City Council

Friday, July 27, 2018 — Two more incumbents on the Bardstown City Council have filed as candidates seeking to keep their seats in the November General Election.

Elmcrest Drive resident Roland “Coach Roe” Williams, 71, filed his candidate paperwork Thursday, and Castleton Drive resident Kecia Copeland, 48, filed her candidate paperwork Friday morning with the office of Elaine Filiatreau, Nelson County Clerk.

Councilman Joe Buckman is the only incumbent candidate who has not yet filed for re-election.

To date, seven candidates have filed for the six council seats, including the four incumbents:

– Betty Kelley Hart
– Franklin Hibbs IV
– Bill Sheckles (incumbent)
– David Dones (incumbent)
– Nicholas Shanks
– R. Coach Roe Williams (incumbent)
– Kecia Copeland (incumbent)

City mayor and council/commission races are non-partisan.

DEADLINE APPROACHES. The deadline to file for local office — mayor, councilman/city commissioner, school board member, etc. — is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018.
