Obituary: Mary Jean ‘Snookie’ Hulse, 83, Louisville

Mary Jean “Snookie” Hulse, 83, of Louisville, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at Baptist East Hospital with her sisters by her side. She was born July 28, 1935, in New Haven to the late Joseph Terry and Mary Regina Sims Hulse. She was a caregiver for her mom, aunts, uncles and many others. She volunteered for Hosparus, the American Lung association, St Joseph Orphanage and Dream Factory. She retired from the Kentucky Center for the Arts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Mary Regina Sims Hulse; and one brother-in-law, Bobby Haynes.

She is survived by three sisters, Carol Haynes of Hodgenville, Catherine (David) Murphy of Bardstown, and Cindy H. Edelen of Louisville; five nieces Sharon (David) Lovejoy, Terri Lear, Cathy Vance, Serena (Joe) Lear, and Beth Head; three nephews, Mickey (Rhonda) Head, Denny ( Danielle) Rose, and Jordan Edelen; two stepnieces, Stacy (David) Hall, Terri Murphy; and many other relatives.

Visitation and the funeral is 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty officiating, with Mass to follow. Burial is in St. Catherine Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations go to the Nelson County Humane Society.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home New Haven Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
