Obituary: Sylvester Joseph ‘Jay’ Young, 75, Louisville

SYLVESTER JOSEPH “JAY” YOUNG

Sylvester Joseph “Jay” Young, 75, of Louisville, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018 at Colonial Nursing Home in Bardstown. He was a graduate of DeSales High School. After his graduation he served four years in the U. S. Navy before going to work and retiring as a driver for R. & R. Limousine Service.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Piercy; and his mother, Mary Lou Knoop.

He is survived by two daughters, Kourtney (John) Martinez of Springfield and Kim (Ervin) Stone of Louisville; his beloved sister, Jude Ware; five grandchildren, Johndavid, Jude, Jenna, Scott, and Shely; and five great-grandchildren.

A committal service with military honors is 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff with the Rev. Daniel Lincoln officiating.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at the Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

The Nelson-Bennett-Edelen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
