Obituary: Shirley Hopper Martin, 71, Nazareth

Shirley Hopper Martin, 71, of Nazareth, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at her residence. She was born Nov. 8, 1946, in Nelson County. She was a long-time employee at Old Kentucky Home Motel and Stephen Foster Restaurant, and enjoyed her time with friends at Nazareth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Martin; her father, Jim Hopper; one daughter, Sandy Martin; and infant one son Robert Martin.

She is survived by five daughters, Kathy Chesser, Penny (Willie) Shouse, Nikki (Bryon) Runner, Vickie (Doug) Fulkerson, and Mindy Martin; five sons, Kenny Ray (Debbie) Martin, Ricky (Kim) Martin, Tom (Lori) Martin, Mike Martin, and Jason (Jennifer) Martin; her mother, Rhoda Hopper; one sister, Patsy Johnson; and one brother, James “Jim Bo” Hopper; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
