Obituary: Mary Jane ‘Janie’ Smith Durbin, 83, New Haven

Mary Jane “Janie” Smith Durbin, 83, of New Haven, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at Windsor Gardens of Bardstown. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and on the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.O. Durbin.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Marie Reams (Terry), Tina Ann Sympson (Scott), and Rosemary Fleming (Dale); four sons, Charles Gregory “Greg” Durbin, Michael Wayne “Mike” Durbin (Merky), Timothy Allen “Timmy” Durbin (Sara), and James Patrick “Jim Pat” (Angie) Durbin; one sister, Carolyn Warlop; two brothers, Maurice and Don Smith; 17 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral liturgy is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at St. Catherine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer vigil and rosary service 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
