Obituary: Joseph ‘Fred’ Phillips, 88, of Louisville, formerly of Nelson County

Joseph “Fred” Phillips, 88, of Louisville, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018. He was the son of George and Cora Phillips and retired from General Electric after 35 years. He loved spending time with his family at Rough River and was a Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.

He was preceded in death by six brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary C. Phillips; children; five daughters, Brenda Farley, Diane Lurie (Ken), Debbie Sears (Harry Pfeiffer), Rhonda Wathen (Bill), and Sheila Allgeier; two sons, Charles “Steve” Phillips and Bob Phillips (Julia); one sister, Frieda Vaughn; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3926 Poplar Level Road in Louisville with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Evergreen Funeral Home.

The Evergreen Funeral Home of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
