Hurst completes petition as independent; judge executive now a 3-way race

Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018 — Bardstown businessman Jack Hurst has completed his candidacy petition and will appear as an independent candidate for Nelson County judge executive on the November ballot.
Hurst’s completed filing makes the race for the county’s top office a three-way race, with Democrat incumbent Dean Watts defending his tenure as judge executive against Republican candidate Don Thrasher and independent candidate Hurst.
Hurst, 60, is a resident of Sanders Lane. He filed his completed petition Tuesday morning.
BARDSTOWN CITY COUNCIL. Cathedral Manor resident Angel L. Thompson filed Tuesday as a candidate for Bardstown City Council.
Thompson, 37, is the 10th candidate to file for a seat on the six-member city council.
CITY SCHOOL BOARD. Yorkshire Avenue resident Donna Molyneaux filed Tuesday morning as a candidate for the Bardstown Board of Education.
Molyneaux, 56, filed for one of the non-partisan at-large city school board seats that will be on the November ballot.
School board members serve four-year terms.
COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD. New Haven resident and current school board member Jeff Dickerson filed Tuesday to keep his seat representing the county’s 1st District on the Nelson County Board of Education.
Dickerson, 46, was appointed in February to fill the vacancy created after board member David Norman resigned from the board.
DEADLINE 4 PM TODAY. The deadline to file a nominating petition for the November election is 4 p.m. today. The Nelson County Gazette will be reporting late filings just after today’s 4 p.m. filing deadline.
The last day to register to vote in the November election is Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.
