Obituary: Philip B. Newton Jr., 51, New Hope

Philip B. Newton Jr., 51, of New Hope, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Flaget Hospital in Bardstown. He was a native of New Hope, born Sept. 21, 1966.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Thompson Newton; his grandparents, J. B. and Eva Lee Newton and Pat and Ada Thompson.

Survivors include his parents, Philip and Ginger Thompson Newton; four sisters, Kim Welch of Bardstown, Susan Bowling (Paul) of New Hope, Amanda Medley (Kevin) of Loretto and Diane Hiestand (Wes) of Cox’s Creek; two brothers, Mark Newton (Kris) of Lyon’s Station and Bernard Newton (Amanda) of Bardstown; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, in Loretto with Deacon Jim Cecil officiating. Burial is in the St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in New Hope.

Visitation is 4-8 PM Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at the funeral home.

The Mattingly Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
