Obituary: John Edward ‘Jack’ Kelty, 66, Springfield

John Edward “Jack” Kelty, 66, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. He was born Nov. 26, 1951, to the late Thomas Buckman and Rose Catherine Mattingly Kelty. He was a native of Manton, a retired farmer and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Manton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Anthony Kelty and Thomas Kelty, Jr.

Survivors include nine sisters, Mary Catherine Stahl of Detroit, Ann Stillwell and June Slack (William), both of Louisville, Jean Mattingly and Vickie Kelty, both of Springfield, Rosie Kelty and Brenda Spalding (Doug), both of Lebanon, Louise Nalley (Jackie) of Georgia and Mary Lillie Hill (Johnny) of Loretto; three brothers, Joe Kelty (Rebecca) of Manton, Mike Kelty of Loretto and Frank Kelty (Ruthie) of Mount Washington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 6964 Cissellville Road, Manton, with the Rev. Michael Martin officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials donations may go toward burial expenses and may be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Albert Wimsatt, Bernie Lay, Ricky Edelen, John Edelen, Charles Cambron and Tommy Kelty.

Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
