Obituary: Joan Griffith, 79, Bardstown

Joan Griffith, 79, of Bardstown, formerly of Pleasure Ridge Park, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at her residence. She was a graduate of Irvington High School and while growing up she was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ford & Bea Dowell; and one sister, Pamela Dowell.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, George Griffith of Bardstown; three children, Mike Griffith (Lovine) of Bullitt County, Cindy Cornett (Charlie) of New Haven, and Rick Griffith (Teresa) of Oklahoma; one brother, Steve Dowell (Rita) of Richland, Wash; two grandchildren, Katie Kippes (Devin) of New Hope and Angela Kippes of Mount Washington; and several cousins, family and friends.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at the Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove with a 7 p.m. prayer service in the funeral home chapel.

A graveside service is noon Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at the Big Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove is in charge of arrangements.
