Obituary: Jerry Allen Ellis, 70, New Haven

Jerry Allen Ellis, 70, of New Haven, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at his home in New Haven. He was a Christian by faith. He was retired from Ford Motor Co. in Louisville after many years, and was owner/operator of the Long Branch Saloon in New Haven for many years after retiring. He loved being around people. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the KMA/KBA Hogtown Dist. 12 Brotherhood of U.S. Marine Corps. Riders. He was born April 30, 1948 the son of the late George Clater and Clara Agnes Beechel Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Steven Ellis.

His is survived by his wife, Jane Colgate Ellis of New Haven; one daughter, Theresa Dawson of Brandenburg; four sons, Mark (Denise) Ellis of Brandenburg, Jeffrey (Valerie) Ellis of Grovetown, Ga., Jerry (Alisha) Ellis Jr. of Killeen, Texas, and Michael (Angela) Meredith of Bardstown; two brothers, George (Carol) Ellis and Darvin Ellis, both of Louisville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd, Hodgenville, with Bro. Tommy Williams officiating. Burial is in Resthaven Cemetery in Louisville.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, and 8-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at the funeral home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville, is in charge of arrangements.
