Obituary: Ron Gist, 75, Boston

RON GIST

Ron Gist, 75, of Boston, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018. He attended Seneca High School in Louisville and the University of Louisville, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He was a charter member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Bardstown, serving in many active lay ministry roles. He founded Gist Piano Center in Louisville on Nov. 27, 1971 and served as its CEO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Gist and Hallie Pauline DeWitt Gist.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Amanda Mary Dysard Gist; one daughter, Hallie Geneva Gist (Joseph) Miller; one son, John Dysard (Hannah) Gist; and five grandchildren, Dysard Joseph Miller, Stanley Thomas Miller, Henderson Riley Gist, Maxwell Julian Gist, and Elizabeth (Ellie) Rose Gist.

The memorial service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Bardstown with a joyful reception to follow immediately thereafter across the street at Kreso’s Restaurant.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Episcopal Church of the Ascension for the support of their community music development and piano care fund.

Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home in Jeffersontown is in charge of arrangements.
