Obituary: Mary Catherine ‘Kitty’ Leake Thompson, 95, Nazareth Village

Mary Catherine “Kitty” Leake Thompson, 95, of Nazareth Village, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at her residence. She was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Holy Cross to the late James Hubert and Mary Jo Donahue Clan. She was a retired employee of Barton 1792 Distillery after 15 years, an employee of Nazareth Infirmary as a nursing assistant for 8 years, a bus monitor for Nelson County Schools, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved flowers and enjoyed music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Thomas Durbin Leake; her second husband of five years, Raymond Thompson; one sister, Louise Corbett; two brothers, James H. Clan and Thomas Gilbert Clan; and a great grandson, Demetrius Norman.

She is survived by six daughters, Linda (Albertus) Smith, Rhonda Kelly, Martha Leake, Cheryl (David) Downs, Anita (Dewayne) Smith, and Wahseka (Donald) Auberry; four sons, Steve (Sandy) Leake, Tim (Barbara) Leake, Glen “Boss” Leake, all of Bardstown, and Keith (Debbie) Leake of Henryville, Ind.; four sisters, Midget Downs of Bardstown, Sr. Martha Clan SCN of Nazareth, Ann Corbett of Louisville and Melvina Clan of Lebanon; three brothers, Alvin Clan of Shepherdsville, Edward (Rosie) Clan of Lebanon, and Larry (Betty Ann) Clan of Louisville; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. with the Rev. Ben Brown and the Rev. Minhs Vu officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
