Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 — The Nelson County Board of Adjustments public hearing regarding the proposed drug rehab clinic for the old Cox’s Creek school has been postponed until November.

Dr. Muhammad Wasim Sajid answers questions about the proposed drug rehab at a community meeting in July.

According to a letter dated Friday, Sept. 14th from Jim Willett, the attorney representing the firm seeking a conditional use permit to locate the rehab at the former school, stated that the design, engineering and construction consultants working on the project have not completed their evaluation. They expect to have their evaluations completed by late October.

Willett’s letter requested the Board of Adjustments postpone the hearing on Astra Real Estate LLC’s application for a conditional use permit until the board’s regular meeting at 10 a.m. Nov. 8, 2018. The location for the hearing is yet to be determined.

To date there have been two community meetings regarding the proposed drug rehabilitation clinic, with most residents in the area opposed to locating a drug rehab at the former school building.
