Motorcyclist flown to Louisville after striking vehicle, guard rail

Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 — The operator of a motorcycle suffered severe injuries Saturday evening when his vehicle was apparently struck another vehicle before hitting a guard rail, and ejecting him from his bike and down an embankment.

Nelson County EMS, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and Nelson County Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the area of 950 Samuels Road for an accident involving a motorcycle. Firefighters rescued the motorcycle operator, who was described as a man in his mid-30s. The man was treated by EMS at the scene and then transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital where he was picked up by a waiting medical helicopter and flown directly to University Hospital in Louisville.
