Obituary: Joyce Lavern Rogers, 70, Bardstown

Joyce Lavern Rogers, 70, of Bardstown, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2018. at her residence. She was born Oct. 8, 1947, in Bardstown to the late Wesley Lee and Juanita Nell Corbin Allender. She was retired from St. Martin DePorres and was a former Mary Kay consultant. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joe Rogers; one sister, Bonita Dearing; and one brother, Greg Allender.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Rogers; one daughter, Rhonda (Mitch) VanDyke of Bardstown; two sons, Allen Rogers and David (Mary Beth) Rogers, both of Cox’s Creek; two brothers, Gary (Jackie) Allender and Randy (Judy) Allender, both of Bardstown; and three grandchildren, Chelsey Keesy, Josie Hibbs and Sophie Rogers.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2018, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Jason Harris officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2018, and after 9 a.m. Friday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
