Man indicted on charges of incest, rape, sex abuse involving victims under age 12

Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 –– A man currently incarcerated in the Fulton County Detention Center faces rape and incest charges for actions that took place in Nelson County between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012.

According to the indictment, Timothy Richards, 34, was indicted Wednesday on charges of incest involving a victim under 12 years of age; two counts of first-degree rape involving a victim under 12 years of age; first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under 12 years of age; and persistent felony offender, first-degree.

The indictment alleges that Richards engaged in sexual intercourse with a person he know to be a relative; engaged in sexual intercourse with two juveniles under he age of 12; and subjected a juvenile to sexual contact identified as sexual abuse. The indictment cites Richards’ previous felony convictions as the basis for the first-degree persistent felony offender charge.

His bail was set at $100,000 cash only, plus conditions. His arraignment is Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, in Nelson Circuit Court.
