Obituary: Vernon Burns, 88, Bardstown

Vernon Burns, 88, of Bardstown, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at Signature Health and Rehabilitation. He was born Sept. 26, 1929, in Bloomfield to the late Orville and May Goff Burns. He retired from General Electric after 49 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, then served 12 years with the National Guard. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rachael Parrott Burns and a brother, Leroy Burns.

He is survived by one daughter, Jannifer (Scott) Jones of Botland; one son, Vernon Ray (Marcia) Burns of Botland; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in Mill Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Chesser officiating.

Visitation is 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, who is in charge of arrangements.
