Obituary: William Marion ‘Bill’ Lashley, 83, Icetown

William Marion “Bill” Lashley, 83, of Icetown, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at his home in Icetown. He was born in Louisville Oct. 5, 1934, the son of the late Harland and Alice Aline Morris Lashley. He was a Baptist by faith. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from the trucking industry with 33 years of service. He also served 17-1/2 years with the Nelson County Board of Education Transportation Department.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean Dones Lashley; and two brothers, Lester Lashley and Donald “Dude” Lashley.

He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Sue (Rex) Downs of Boston; five sons, Richard (Christian) Ecell of Madison, Wisc., Anthony Wayne Lashley, Dennis “Denny” Lashley, and Jessie Todd (Sharon Lashley, all of Bardstown, and James Marion (Mary) Lashley of New Haven; one brother, Ronnie Lashley of Cecilia; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, in the chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven with the Rev. Isaac Ferguson officiating. Burial is in the St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery in Bardstown.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, and 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
