South Sixth Street home damaged in Monday afternoon fire

Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 — A home on South Sixth Street was damaged by fire Monday afternoon.

At about 3:14 p.m. Monday, the Bardstown Fire Department and Nelson County EMS responded for a reported structure fire in the 400 block of South Sixth Street, near the corner of Pioneer Pass and South Sixth.

The first fire units on scene reported flames visible from outside and that the home’s occupants had evacuated the home. Fire crews reported control of the fire by about 3:35 p.m. and were looking for areas where the fire may have spread.

Representatives from the American Red Cross responded and assisted the family with immediate housing needs. Firefighters remained on scene until just after 5 p.m.
