Bardstown’s Furniture Liquidators store changes over to new name, signage

A sign crew works Wednesday to complete the installation of new signage at the Furniture Liquidators store in Kentucky Home Square. The parent company of Furniture Liquidators was purchased in February 2018 by FFO Home. The acquisition also included the Mattresses and More chain of bedding and accessory stores.

Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018 — New signs were going up on the Furniture Liquidators store location in Kentucky Home Square shopping center on Wednesday morning.

The new signs represent a rebranding of the store to represent the new stores commitment to quality products at a value price.

According to a story in Furniture Today website, FFO Home’s market research indicated that in the Louisville market, the Furniture Liquidators brand was viewed by consumers as a closeout, low price/low quality retailer — qualities that do not represent FFO Home’s products and pricing.

FFO Home is converting the 13 Furniture Liquidators stores in the Louisville market to FFO Home brand stores.

For several months, Furniture Liquidators has been promoting a “retirement sale” because the president and CEO of the company, John Otter, was retiring. FFO Home purchased the parent company of Furniture Liquidators in February 2018, which included the 15-store Mattress and More specialty retail chain.

The Mattress and More chain will not be rebranded.

FFO Home is ranked No. 66 in Furniture Today’s Top 100 ranking of furniture, bedding and accessory stores with sales of $102.7 million at its 47 stores. The Furniture Liquidators acquisition added 17 stores and 15 Mattress and More locations. The company has stores in nine states.
