Obituary: Hettie G. Fisher, 93, of Bardstown
Hettie G. Fisher, 93, died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. She was born March 2, 1925, in Bardstown to the late Leon and Myrtle Holmes Wickliffe. She welcomed Christ into her life at an early age. She was a long time member of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church in Bardstown. She served as a missionary deacon and a long-time trustee with other tasks such as singing in the church choir for years. Her favorite song was “Turn It Over to Jesus.” She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and served as a long-time member in the Eastern Star. She retired from Barton Brands after 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fisher; three children, Lorraine, Joyce, and Charles Fisher; her parents, Leon and Myrtle Wickliffe; three sisters, Nellie Arnold, Sadie Lawler, and Addie Long; and five brothers, Sammy, Charles Wickliffe, Eugene Wickliffe, William Wickliffe, and Lindon Wickliffe.
Survivors include two children, Loyce Fisher Curry and Lindon Terry Fisher (Patricia); one brother, Horace Wickliffe; her grandchildren, Tony, Nathan (Jada), Tara Johnson Stivers (Wayne) Alphonzo, Crystal, Shelly (Jerri) , Charslee, Jonathan, Talesha, Tyrone, T.J. and her special friend Mikiah Livers-Bryant; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral is noon Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. Roscoe Linton officiating.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, and 9-11:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home.
