Obituary: Joseph Anthony ‘Jody’ Greenwell, 73, Loretto
Joseph Anthony “Jody” Greenwell, 73, of Loretto, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 9, 1945, in Nelson County. He was a retired Kentucky State Police detective, former director of the Community Action Weatherization Program and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Robert Raymond “Fats” and Mary Agnes Greenwell O’Bryan; and one brother, Timmy O’Bryan.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margie Hawkins Greenwell; three sons, Andy Greenwell of Raywick, Joey Greenwell (Rebecca) of Bardstown and Travis Greenwell of Loretto; two sisters, Rita Germaine Mattingly (Pat) and Angela Brady (Jimmy), both of Bardstown; two brothers, Dale O’Bryan (Shelly) of Danville and Pat O’Bryan (Sandy) of New Hope; two grandsons, Drew Greenwell (Lindsey) of Texas and Austin Greenwell (Shelby) of Bardstown; and three great-grandchildren, Adlynn Greenwell of Bardstown and Landon Greenwell and Knox Greenwell, both of Texas.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with Bob Gardner officiating. Burial is in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at the Mattingly Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers are Pat Thomas, Brian Beaven, Matthew Miles, Dave Miles, Larry Hawkins, Jr. and Charles Ferriell.
