Obituary: William Arnold ‘Billy’ Janes, 76, formerly of Nelson County

William Arnold “Billy” Janes, 76, of Fisherville, died Friday, Oct. 05, 2018, at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born Nov. 8, 1941, in Nelson County to the late Vance and Catherine Hutchins Janes. He was a retired employee of St. Joe Paper Co., a member of Bluegrass Beagle Club, the Woodsmen Motor Cross Club, and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He loved his dogs, hunting, and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Janes.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Perkins Janes; one daughter, Mischelle (Larry) Gearheart of Shepherdsville; two sons, Jason (Angie) Janes of Lanesville, Ind., and Robert (Kelli) Janes of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren, Shelby, Samantha, Evan, Will, Lloyd, Amelia, and Eloise; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Sister Mavis Bennett officiating. Burial is in Elk Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018.

The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
