One person injured in single-vehicle accident near Howardstown

Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, 4 a.m. — One person was injured early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident when a pickup truck struck a tree near Howardstown.

At about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched for an injury accident near Howardstown Liquors on Stiles Road. As first-responders were on the way, a caller told dispatchers the accident happened elsewhere and the injured person was brought to Howardstown Liquors.

The injured man was treated by Nelson County EMS at the scene, then transported to the New Haven School where he was picked up by a medical helicopter and flown to University Hospital.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident.
