Obituary: William Wesley ‘Billy’ Mudd Jr., 88, Bloomfield

William Wesley “Billy” Mudd Jr., 88, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, at Landmark of Bardstown. He was born Oct. 5, 1930, in Nelson County to the late William Wesley and Lillian Morris Mudd Sr. He was the former owner of the Chevron Station in Bloomfield, was an auctioneer and the owner of Billy Mudd Real Estate and Billy Mudd Water Service. He was a Kentucky Colonel, the former fire chief for the Bloomfield Fire Department, and a 65-year member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #57 F&AM where he was a former secretary.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Haydon Mudd.

He is survived by three sons, Ronnie Mudd and Tim Cheek (Tracey), both of Bloomfield, and Rickey Mudd of Portageville, Mo.; one stepson, David Allen (Roberta) Young; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his caregiver, Lori Wells of Bloomfield.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Tom Sparrow officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, with a Masonic memorial service will at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
