Obituary: Joseph Bailey Smith, 18, Loretto

Joseph Bailey Smith, 18, of Loretto, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at University of Louisville Hospital as a result of an auto accident. He was born Dec. 28, 1999, in Marion County. He was a 2018 graduate of Marion County High School.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Jason Smith; and his grandfathers, Harvey Smith and Jerry Akers.

Survivors include his mother, Renee Whitlock of Springfield; one sister, Lakin Pittman (Joey) of Loretto; one niece, Harper Pittman;  one nephew, Avery Bradshaw; one aunt, Darcy Bernard (Zev) of Goshen; two cousins, Ethan and Emma Mooring; and his grandmothers, Karen Smith Dean (Steve McCoy) of St. Francis and Wanda Akers of Lebanon; and his great-grandmother, Betty Newton of Bardstown.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto with Deacon Joseph R. Dant officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
