Charles H. Lydian Sr., 92, Bardstown

Charles H. Lydian, Sr.,  92, Bardstown, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at his residence.  He was born March 22, 1919, in Bardstown.

He was an Army Veteran, member of St. Monica Catholic Church, American Legion Post 167, Marion County Honor Guard and a mayor of Buttermilk.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Deana” Miller Lydian; parents, Bud and Nannie Lydian; three daughters, Elizabeth Guyton, Charlotte Maddox and Sara “Jo” Marshall; one brother, William Earl “Buck” Lydian; five sisters, Annette Maddox, Fannie Bell Weaver, Josephine Dingle, Sallie Beatrice Cosby and Bertha Downs and eight grandchildren.

He is survived by one son, Charles “Mike” (Cathy) Lydian, Jr. of Bardstown; four daughters, Virginia Livers of Bardstown, Nancy Corrothers of Maryland, Geraldine (John Ed) Calbert of Louisville and Margaret Smith of Bardstown; 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2011, at St. Monica Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.  The Rev. John T. Judie will officiate.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Sunday with a service by American Legion Post 167 following prayers.
