Obituary: Thelma Burns, 89, Bloomfield

Thelma Burns, 89, of Bloomfield, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was the former Thelma Sharp, and was born May 17, 1929, in Bloomfield to the late Clarence and Alpha Goodlett Sharp Sr. She was a retired employee of Alhom Aluminum and was a member of Little Union Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loved scrapbooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Burns; and one son, Ronnie Burns.

She is survived by one daughter-in-law, June Burns of Bloomfield; one sister, Catherine Wilson of Edinburgh, Ind.; two brothers, Phillip Sharp of Taylorsville and Clarence Sharp Jr. of Lawrenceburg; two grandsons, Aaron (Felicia) Burns and Chris (Virginia) Burns, both of Bloomfield; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Milburn, Caleb, Lindsey, Kinslee, Braylee, and Nolan Burns.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Will Sipes officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Little Union Baptist Church.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
