Obituary: Mary Rita Culver Wimpsett, 86, Culvertown

Mary Rita Culver Wimpsett, 86, of Culvertown, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born May 6, 1932, in Culvertown to the late William Bernard and Mary Ethel Greenwell Culver. She worked at the Bardstown Sewing Factory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis “J.C.” Wimpsett; one son, Joseph Harold Wimpsett; her parents; two brothers, Joseph Edgar Culver and William Bernard Culver Jr.; and four sisters, Elizabeth Inez Willett, Doris Mae Culver, and Mary Shelly Jean O’Bryan and Regina Rose O’Bryan.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Eddie) Thompson; four sons, Gary Wimpsett (Nancy) of Louisville, Allen Wimpsett (Jean Marie) and Dennis Wimpsett (Debbie), both of New Haven, and Mike Wimpsett (Sandy) of Bardstown; one sister, Patricia Marie (Gerald) Masterson of New Haven; two brothers, James Lowell (Frances) Culver of Louisville and Raphael Allen (Kris) Culver of Bardstown; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty officiating, Burial is in the St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery in Bardstown.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, and 8:30-9:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 with a 7 p.m. prayer service Friday night with Deacon Arnold Downs.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home New Haven Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
