Sunday, June 19, 2011, 1:03 p.m. — According to a story on the Lexington Herald-Leader website, Anthony Epps, a former University of Kentucky basketball player and basketball coach at Marion County High School, was arrested early Saturday in Marion County on his second drunken-driving charge in eight months.

Epps  resigned from his job at Marion County High on Saturday. According to the Lebanon Enterprise, Taylora Scholosser, the school district’s assistant superintendent, said that Epps told her this was “the best decision for him personally and for the program.” He was hired as coach in 2010.

As a player for the Marion County Knights, Epps led the team to the 1993 state basketball championship. He later played point guard for UK’s 1996 NCAA Tournament championship team.

Epps was stopped by police about 12:30 Saturday morning after he was spotted driving erratically on Country Club Drive. He was charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence. This was Epps’ second arrest for DUI in less than a year; he was arrested for DUI last October. In that case he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving.
