Obituary: Stella Christine Janes, 91, Bardstown
Stella Christine Janes, 91, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Bloomfield to the late James Howard and Frances Bell Elmore Hagan. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a retired employee of 19 years from Barton Distillery. She loved her family unconditionally.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Vincent Greenwell;
three sisters, Mary Loveland, Louise Bishop and Nancy Downs; three brothers, James Hagan, Leon Hagan and Buddy Hagan; and one grandson, Tyler Unseld.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles “Buddy” Janes; four daughters, Diane (John) Unseld, Marlene Greenwell, and Mona (Danny) Allen, all of Bardstown, and Faye Janes of Lexington; one son, Charlie Janes of Bardstown; one daughter-in-law, Judy Greenwell of Canada; one sister, Phyllis Hagan Barnes of Elizabethtown; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw celebrant. Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a 6 p.m. Thursday prayer service.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Guthrie Opportunity Center.
