Obituary: Merril Rogers, 93
Merril Rogers, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at his daughters residence in Bardstown. He was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Bardstown. He was a self-employed builder, a graduate of St. Joe Prep, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Navy and World War II veteran and served in the South Pacific. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emaline Auberry Rogers; his parents, Earl and Dee Rogers; two sisters, Maxine Graham and Sara Jean Carrico; and two brothers, Carrol Rogers and Fabian Roger.
He is survived by one daughter, Pat Russman (Chuck) of Bardstown; one son, Mike Rogers (Elizabeth) of Bardstown; one brother, Larry Rogers of Bardstown; six grandchildren, Emily Mattingly (Charlie), Megan Russman, Sarah Russman, Drew Russman, Thomas Rogers, and David Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Mattingly and Patrick Mattingly; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, and 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions will go to Bethlehem High School and to Masses.
