Obituary: Emma Lee Cole, 70, Shelbyville

EMMA LEE COLE

Emma Lee Cole, 70, of Shelbyville, died on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. Born in Cropper, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Perry and Viola Minerva Clower Samples. She was a homemaker and a former employee of the Masonic Home in Shelbyville. She enjoyed music and was a fan of many musicians. Collecting memorabilia of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson, and Prince was her primary hobby.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Frankie Mitchell.

Her survivors include her husband, David Cole of Shelbyville; three sons, Danny Smith of Willisburg, and Curtis Mitchell Smith and Lee Ray Smith, both of Shelbyville; five sisters, Ruby Whallen of Indiana, Helen Watson, Margaret Smith, and Kathy Allen, all of Shelbyville, and Wanda Martin of Pleasureville; three brothers, Billy Broughton of Shelbyville, Ollie Perry Samples Jr., of Boston, and Gayle Samples of New Castle; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with the Rev. Les Harris officiating. Burial is in the Cropper Cemetery in Cropper.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 100, Department 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908.
