Obituary: Margaret Scites, 79, Bardstown

MARGARET SCITES

Margaret Scites, 79, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Landmark of Bardstown. She was born March 30, 1939, in Minnehaha Springs, West Va., to the late E. Clyde and Reta Letisha Rexrode Bussard. She was a school librarian at Ravenswood High School in West Virginia for 36 years. She worked for 15 years at the Nelson County Public Library where she designed the library website, and then volunteered after retirement. She was a member of Wickland Baptist Church and the Cox’s Station D.A.R. She loved animals, baking cookies, and was an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Everett Scites Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Lisa (Jay) Allen of Bardstown and P.J. (Richard) Burns of Nicholasville; one sister, Dr. Rachel (Sally) Tompkins of Minnehaha Springs, West Va.; and four grandchildren, Trey (Sara) Allen, Andrew Paul Burns, Lori (Nathan) Petrie, and Lydia Burns.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis King officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to the Nelson County Public Library or the Red Oak Elementary Summer Reading Program, 921 Union Mill Road Nicholasville, KY 40356.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
