Obituary: Mary Elizabeth Hagan Blanton, 79, Louisville

Mary Elizabeth Hagan Blanton, 79, of Louisville, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born Nov. 14, 1939, in Loretto. She was a retired telephone operator with AT&T in Louisville with more than 30 years of service. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James Ray and Jeffrey Scott Blanton; her parents, Joseph Charles Hagan Jr. and Mary Catherine “Katie” Lee; and two sisters, Anna Marie Donahue and Charlena Tyler.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Charles Blanton (Robin) of Madison, Fla.; two sisters, Catherine Miller of Louisville and Dean Hagan-Roche of Glendale, Calif.; two brothers, Joseph R. Hagan and Charles B. Hagan (Linda) both of Loretto; and four grandchildren, Ariel Blanton, Abigail Blanton, Amelia Blanton and Charlie Blanton.

The funeral is noon Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto, with Deacon Joseph R. Dant officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto.

The Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, is in charge of arrangements.
